The award-winning documentary “Metamorphosis”, which sheds light on women’s struggle for freedom, human rights violations, and forced migration in Türkiye, will be screened in Helsinki on October 28, 2025, followed by a panel discussion.
“Metamorphosis” brings together the stories of women whose lives have been profoundly transformed due to political oppression and gender-based discrimination. The film not only reveals injustices and challenges faced by women in Türkiye, but also portrays the resilience and courage they demonstrated in exile. Through their testimonies, universal values such as freedom, justice, and human dignity take center stage.
Director Aslıhan Kaş will join the event to share both the behind-the-scenes journey of making the documentary and the difficulties encountered during filming. Kaş emphasizes that the purpose of Metamorphosis is not only to raise awareness of women’s rights violations in Türkiye but also to highlight the powerful struggle of women to rebuild their lives in exile.
The accompanying panel will feature journalists, human rights advocates, and experts who will discuss the social, psychological, and cultural dimensions of forced migration, drawing directly from the women’s stories presented in the documentary.
