Much has been written and said about Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. There is no need to rewrite the events of the White House circus, which have gone down as a dark stain in diplomatic history. After this spectacle, the whole world has learned that Trump’s real interest in Ukraine is not the war itself but the wealth buried underground.
His attempt to sit at the table with Putin in the name of ending the war is a striking example of how economic interests hold diplomacy hostage. Declaring Zelensky a “dictator,” Trump is cornering Kyiv while simultaneously working to hand over the country’s underground riches to American companies.
Ukraine possesses 5% of the world’s most valuable minerals and is a global leader in titanium production. However, this wealth is now being used as a bargaining chip under the guise of “military aid” in Trump’s negotiations.
PLUNDER IN THE SHADOW OF WAR
Beneath Ukrainian soil lie nickel, cobalt, and graphite reserves worth $1 trillion. The deal Trump is forcing on Ukraine requires these resources to be opened to American companies. The logic of “We gave you weapons, now give us your land” is turning Ukraine’s sovereignty into a mere tool. While labeling Zelensky as “authoritarian,” Trump does not hesitate to shower praise on Putin and Kim Jong-Un. The hypocrisy is astonishing!
Another key player in this dirty deal is Saudi Arabia. Riyadh has become the center for indirect negotiations between the U.S. and Russia. Trump’s plan to hand over Donbas to Putin is becoming increasingly clear. Under Biden, military aid to Ukraine was prioritized, but now Trump is shifting towards “business deals” with Russia instead. Make no mistake—this U.S. retreat is nothing more than a reward for Russia’s violations of international law.
GERMANY’S INTERNAL STRUGGLE AND NATO’S DECLINE
Trump’s moves in Ukraine have shaken Europe to its core. NATO’s two major powers, Germany and France, are now forced to massively increase their defense spending. However, the real political earthquake hit Germany in the 2025 elections: The far-right AfD secured its highest-ever vote share (20.8%), while Friedrich Merz’s CDU/CSU is already knocking on AfD’s door for coalition talks.
With voter turnout reaching 82.5%, the public’s anger toward traditional parties is evident. AfD’s pro-Russia rhetoric and anti-NATO stance have grown into a serious threat to European security.
THE ROTTEN FACE OF REALPOLITIK
If the Democratic Party fails to undergo a radical reform, its fate will be sealed. To counter the rise of Trumpism, Democrats must put the non-white working class at the forefront and abandon elitist, corporate-friendly policies. Otherwise, the 2024 elections will mark the beginning of the end for them.
Trump’s Ukraine maneuver is an economic exploitation project disguised as a “peace” initiative. Meanwhile, the rise of the far right in Germany is a sign of Europe’s increasing political fragility. Sovereignty, justice, and international law have been reduced to mere bargaining chips on the tables of the powerful. The world stands at the brink of a new hegemony war—this time, not with weapons, but with minerals and political manipulation…
