NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2025 — The Journalists and Writers Foundation (JWF), in partnership with 56 global organizations from 30 countries, announced today that it will host the 10th Annual SDGs Conference 2025: Transforming Our World on September 24, 2025, during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The high-profile event, which has become a hallmark of UNGA week, is expected to bring together global leaders, UN diplomats, scholars, journalists, human rights defenders, and youth delegates to address the urgent need to accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A Global Call to Action
The conference theme, “Transforming Our World”, underscores both the urgency and the opportunity for collective action at a time when global crises threaten multilateral cooperation and democratic principles.
“Eighty years ago, from the ashes of war, the world planted a seed of hope: One Charter, One Vision, One Promise—that peace is possible when humanity stands united,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres reminded delegates, setting the tone for this year’s conversations.
Speakers from 14 countries will take part in three major panel discussions:
- Digitalization of Sustainable Development and Human Rights Advocacy — exploring how technology can empower human rights monitoring and sustainable solutions.
- Women and Youth as Leaders for Civic Engagement and Social Change — emphasizing the role of women and young people in shaping governance and democracy during times of crisis.
- Cross-Cutting Threats to the Principles of Democracy — tackling the rise of authoritarian practices and their impact on global democratic stability.
Three Days of Action
This year’s program extends beyond the main conference, with a series of events designed to foster dialogue and build partnerships:
- Day 1: JWF High-Level Reception 2025 (Sept. 22) — A networking gathering of more than 150 delegates, including UN ambassadors, diplomats, journalists, academics, and civil society leaders.
- Day 2: SDGs Roundtable Discussion 2025 (Sept. 23) — An interfaith and civil society forum to discuss economic, social, and environmental challenges, with a focus on interfaith dialogue as a driver of sustainable solutions.
- Day 3: SDGs Conference 2025 (Sept. 24) — The flagship event, where policymakers and civil society representatives will propose policy solutions to reinvigorate multilateralism and overcome stagnation in SDG implementation.
A Platform for Collective Action
Organizers say the conference will serve as both a platform for policy innovation and a space for building new partnerships. “As we stand at this critical juncture, the Journalists and Writers Foundation and its partners reaffirm their commitment to Transforming Our World Together—one step at a time,” the announcement reads.
The event will be livestreamed globally, with open registration for those who wish to participate virtually. Stakeholders are invited to contribute ideas, share insights, and collaborate with experts and leaders from across the globe.
