The Court of Cassation of Turkey has requested the Constitutional Court (AYM) to impose a precautionary measure on the treasury aid for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), citing its failure to participate in the elections.
The Prosecutor’s Office, noting that the HDP did not participate in the 28th Parliamentary Election, has submitted a new application to the Constitutional Court. According to the Political Parties Law, all political parties were entitled to receive treasury aid three times the amount during the years of general elections. Accordingly, a total of 600 million 343 thousand TL in treasury aid was provided to the HDP.
The Prosecutor’s Office requested the blocking of the 400 million 228 thousand TL in treasury aid paid to the HDP due to it being an election year. The Prosecutor’s Office further demanded that the spent portion of the aforementioned 400 million 228 thousand TL be collected from the party and the individuals responsible for the expenditure and transferred to the treasury.
It has been stated that the application is expected to be decided by the Constitutional Court within a short period of time.
